Foxes belong to the same family as dogs and wolves. Red foxes live in woods, fields, mountains and even towns, which makes them one of the most widespread wild mammals in the world. A fox has a bushy tail called a brush, and it can hear tiny movements under grass or snow.

Look closer

Look at the fox's tail. How long is it compared with its body? What might a bushy tail be good for?
